About the Company

Based in Chester, Virginia (just 20 minutes South of Richmond), Robbins Landscaping  is a high-end residential landscaping contractor. With a focus on offering the highest possible level of service, the company offers maintenance, enhancements, and design/build work to clients in a 50-mile radius of its headquarters.

Owner Doug Robbins started the business out of his garage 35 years ago. There were many ups and downs, but Doug was intent on offering a high level of service to customers that he developed lifelong friendships with along the way

As the years went on, Doug and his business coach put a plan in place to increase the value of his company by offering maintenance contracts, increasing the amount of recurring revenue in the business.

In early 2023, Doug Robbins decided it was  time to sell the business and transition to the next phase of his life: what he calls his "sunset." In the entire process, one of the most important things to Doug was making sure his employees and customers would be well taken care of. From the beginning, his ideal buyer candidate was a buyer with new energy and industry experience.

Using MidStreet's proven process, Robbins Landscaping attracted over 70 buyers in just a few weeks. Terra Forma was the first buyer candidate MidStreet shared with Doug, and it ended up being the perfect fit. 

MidStreet created a marketing video (below) and Confidential Information Memorandum (CIM) to attract interest in the business.

Led by M&A Advisor Jonah Pollone, the MidStreet team faciltated the discussion with Terra Forma to deliver an offer to Doug that he was very excited about. After a brief diligence and closing period, the transaction successfully closed on December 4th, 2023.

With the acquisition by Terra Forma Landscaping, Robbins Landscaping enters an exciting new era. The merger brings together the rich heritage of Robbins Landscaping with the fresh perspective of Terra Forma's team. Terra Forma's goal is to redefine the residential landscaping industry in Richmond, enhancing service offerings and expanding its reach, all while maintaining the high standards of quality and customer service that Robbins Landscaping is known for. 

Doug Robbins: The Next Chapter

As he steps into a new phase of life, Doug passes on the torch of his legacy to a new generation of leadership in Terra Forma. In addition to helping the new leadership team at Robbins Landscaping, Doug has started a consulting business called Jumpstart Rising, where he and his wife Leigh will help entrepreneurs start new ventures.
